When you say the words "wildlife" and "adventure," the first image that comes to mind is Africa. The continent offers a huge variety of tourist packages for those people who wish to spend time surrounded by nature. Large portions of Africa have been set aside in game preserves and national parks that are breathtaking in their majesty and diversity.

But nature and its wonders isn't limited to the African continent. Oceania is an excellent place for wildlife adventure too. There is Australia with its huge outback or New Zealand with its incredible landscape now familiar to millions of people in the world courtesy of the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, which was shot there.

On the other side of the Pacific Ocean there is one of the greatest places for wildlife adventures in the world, the Amazon Rainforest. It encompasses a variety of countries, including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, among others. The rain forest is an excellent way to admire a variety of wildlife by taking a boat trip along the Amazon River from Peru to the Atlantic Ocean.

Any time you are considering an exotic location, investigate the current political climate there and find out if the state department has issued any travel warnings relative to the country you are considering. We live in a politically unstable world and it is not safe for Americans to travel in some parts of the globe.

Wildlife conservation has been a blessing for us. Thousands of species will not disappear because of vigilant conservationists who are laboring to undo mankind's long history of negligence with our fragile environment. The fruits of their labor will allow us to leave a legacy for our descendants so that they will not have to experience nature as nothing but a page in a history book with a caption that reads, "extinct." Don't spend your time watching documentaries or looking at magazines with wildlife photography or wildlife Art. Get out there and enjoy the world's beautiful animals while they are still there to be seen.
