The main difference between a typical cruise vacation and an adventure cruise is the amount of physical activity. Passengers take part in crewing the vessel and get a taste of what life at sea was like in the golden age of sea travel. In reality, it depends on how much money you have available for your trip. As the cruise cabins get bigger, the price increases. All ships are different and some adventure cruise ships are austere, almost like "camping at sea." You may have little choice about the nature of your accommodations.

If you opt for luxury adventure cruises, however, and cash isn't a problem you may treat yourself to a spacious cabin with all the amenities. If most of your time is going to be spent outdoors, however, this may be an unnecessary expense. It's all a matter of personal taste, budget, and what each ship has to offer.
